The usual companions to these popular pastimes are alcohol and tobacco. Indeed, the very idea of party or night out is inextricably linked with alcohol consumption, despite the fact that smoking is not that popular anymore, not to mention somewhat illegal in public places and pubs in several countries.
However, while drinks and smokes make the party infinitely better, ending the party in a bed with someone l becomes a bit of a problem. It is a well-known fact that alcohol and sex don’t mix well. True, a glass or two can be relaxing and even arousing, but a whole bottle of hard liquor is the safest way to a limp noodle. Some young people can actually pour a lot of alcohol down their throats without missing out on bedroom performance, but heavy drinking means impotence sooner or later.
Smoking is just as bad for your sex life as alcohol. Although you will still be able to get it up and perform in bed, your lungs and heart will not be able to keep up with the increased effort. Pretty soon you’ll find yourself wheezing and forced to assume a more passive role in order to save your strength. And this even before considering the negative effect smoking has on fertility in both men and women.
After sex cigarettes are a nice touch to the afterglow of a shared orgasm, but various studies showed that 40 percent of smokers are impotent. Smoking increases the risk of impotence by some 50 percent for men in their 30s and 40s. This means that many men who would otherwise be perfectly healthy are no impotent simply because they liked to smoke. It sounds like a bitter tradeoff.
The conclusion is that neither drinking, nor smoking are good for sex, which means a choice is waiting down the road for you. Have fun, but stay safe!
